The bishop shall have the right to set apart for the Order of Deaconess women who will be selected and trained for the ministry of teacher, visitor and comforter in God's Holy Church. The requirements for this office will be determined by the Council of Bishops.
Nothing in this canon is to be construed as equating the Office of Deaconess with the apostolic Order of Deacons.
